Drinking Coffee Elsewhere

It is unclear to me what we are supposed to write about the book, maybe because I missed class, but I'll write something about it anyway. She is an interesting writer, I haven't finished the entire book yet but from what I have read, I like it. She has a way of leaving things up to the reader to decide. It is a good book as an example of how to become a better writer for that reason. She writes of many real life situations in which many people can perhaps relate to but at the same time it lets you into a person's life you would other wise know nothing about.

What I want you to do is look at how she tells stories...the techniques she uses, such as scene-setting, description, use of dialog, and use of similes and metaphors, etc.

Read it, see what you notice...and give me a few specific examples.
